Lead Preschool Teacher

Responsible To: Director

The Lead Preschool Teacher’s will be responsible for creating the lesson plans and develop age-appropriate objectives for the students. They will maintain assessments for each student and discuss progress with parents.

  • Provide vision, leadership, and direction to the preschool staff and students
  • Promote excellence, equality and high expectations for all students
  • Evaluate school performance and identify priorities for continuous improvement
  • Create a safe and productive learning environment which is engaging and fulfilling for all students

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Guide and Direct Other Preschool Teachers:
    • Establish and communicate clear objectives
    • Provide continuous feedback to teachers for development
    • Prepare monthly in-service training sessions for teaching staff
    • Model positive reinforcement behavior with the children
  • Working with Children:
    • Prepare daily activities and lesson plans
    • Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development (ex: games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling)
    • Provide consistent encouragement to students
    • Ensure a variety of materials and resources are available for children to explore, manipulate and use
    • Make learning active and fun!
    • Develop age appropriate learning objectives and monitor progress
    • Maintain a portfolio of assessments for each child including examples of a child’s work
    • Arrange home visits and parent conferences to discuss child progress
  • Working with Other Staff:
    • Give regular feedback for improvement of your classroom and the entire school
    • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs
  • Overseeing The Classroom:
    • Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
    • Ensure classroom furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored
  • Additional duties as needed
